Tough on Crime
As a former prosecutor, Sam knows how important law enforcement and first responders are to public safety. That’s why Sam voted for law enforcement recruitment and retention funds, and grant funding for body armor purchases to keep them safe. Sam passed legislation that reforms pretrial release, detention and bail to bring criminals to justice. Sam also toughened penalties for people who tamper with or fabricate physical evidence at a crime scene.
Tackling Rising Costs
Supply chain disruptions, housing shortages, reckless federal spending, rising property insurance premiums, and high energy costs driven by Washington overreach mean prices continue to rise for Floridians. Sam has worked with leaders from across the state to pass comprehensive legal reforms to end lawsuit abuse, provide tax relief, and ease the burden of rising insurance premiums. That fight isn’t over—and Sam won’t rest until Florida’s homeowners have relief.
Investing in Children, Families, and Communities
Health care costs are too high, and Floridians need common sense solutions that improve access to good quality, affordable care. As Chair of the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee, Sam expanded access to Florida KidCare, increased Medicaid reimbursement rates for pediatricians, and invested in opioid addiction programs that combat Florida’s fentanyl crisis, which stems from Washington’s failure to secure our borders.
